Salvatore Tavano: a start full of emotions at Mugello's TCR European Endurance race!

Mugello, March 30th, 2025. An almost perfect weekend for Salvatore Tavano, protagonist in the first round of the TCR European Endurance with the Wimmer Werk Motorsport team's Cupra he shares with Eric Scalvini. A great star at Mugello for the Sicilian, who, after getting a front row start yesterday, together with the driver from Brescia, opened the season with the victory gained in Race 1.

He and Scalvini could have easily repeated their victory in the second race; however, a left front suspension rupture just eleven minutes from the checkered flag forced Tavano to withdraw from the race.

In the first race of the morning, it was Tavano himself who started. The Syracuse driver, thanks to his many years of experience in the Italian TCR, in which he won three titles in a row, jumped to the lead on the first lap, overtaking the Audi of poleman Yuri Brigliadori, building a slight lead in wet track conditions.

After the stop Scalvini dropped back to second, but he immediately regained the lead to hold it until the finish with a lead of more than 11" over the RS3 LMS of Franco Girolami and Sandro Pelatti.

In the second race held in the afternoon, it was Scalvini who took the start. The Lombard driver held the second position, later leaving the wheel to Tavano. The latter, with a little more than 16 minutes to go, overtook Pelatti's Audi inside the first corner and took the lead. But shortly afterward he was inexorably forced to stop on the grass.

Game over, but Tavano and Scalvini still brought home important points in this first of five rounds of the 2025 calendar. Now, a two-month break will follow. Then they'll be back on the track on June 7th and 8th at the Slovakiaring.

We look forward with confidence and expectation to the upcoming events, convinced that other important victories and successes will follow!
